Frankly, if I had to choose between being a recently unemployed accountant and being the former Puck, I wouldn’t be making the choice that Robin/James seems to be clinging to.
Especially not with Titania tearing up in front of me like that. (Always was a sucker for a woman’s tears…)
Well, think about it. The human personality of James probably thinks that this is all an insane hallucination brought about by his stress, blackouts, getting fired, etc. He probably thinks he’s just finally snapped. To “James”, accepting this whole “Robin” thing would be giving up “reality” for this “fantasy”.
Personally, I’m with bitflipper. I’d totally choose Titania (crazy or not). But Vincent is correct, he really believes he’s a human who’s snapped. Who knows? Maybe he’s right.
What I find offensive is how James is treating his delusions. You can deny the existence of another being, claim that they’re nothing but fever-dreams, and all that, but he’s verging on being rude and hurtful to his hallucinations. 🙁
If your own collection of personal mirages claim they are real, and are friendly, then you are obligated to treat them well in return. You may apologize for trying to ignore their existence and return to sanity, but you make it clear it is nothing personal and you would be delighted to meet them in less stressful circumstances. Especially if they are, indeed, real, and your previous experiences were the delusion.
“You know, my Queen, I may be nuckin’ futz, but you kind of make it all worthwhile. Stick around after I take my thorazine, and I’ll be thrilled to serve you the rest of my days.”
When someone believes something to be real for so long, it takes a life of its own and doesn’t want to be discarded… that’s basically the problem here. James has lived so long that he’s real, does that make sense?
Not to mention the centuries of loneliness that inspired Robin to kill himself in the first place. But I believe the moment he decided he couldn’t bear living among the sleeping faeries and left, James was born somewhere in Robin’s subconscious. Seeing faeries now not only convinces him that he’s gone mad but triggers warning signals in his faerie consciousness as well. “WARNING! WARNING! PAIN THERE! MUCH PAIN!”

He may not have a choice in the matter. He was technically “reborn” as James, so Robin is like a past life for him.
i would imagine you know, dont you, you brilliant man you. Who sings awesomely… 😀
